Hank Roubicek, professor of communication. Dr. Hank Roubicek has been at UHD for twenty-nine years. He holds a B.A. in Communication from Ohio State, an M.A. in Interpersonal Communication and Counseling Psychology from Purdue, and an Ed.D. in Communication Education from the University of Maryland. His research interests include communication methods for law enforcement practitioners, and the impact of human narratives in conversation. Dr. Roubicek has presented, published, and designed instructional materials in the areas of applied communication and communication education. He is also a reputable consultant, local radio host, and active volunteer in the Houston community as well as a reputed advisor to college students.
In addition to being involved with SU Investment Club and Delta Sigma Pi, Andy is a Financial Coach for students. In summer of 2019, Andrew was a Portfolio Management Intern at PIMCO, where he served in a dynamic role, working alongside Senior Portfolio Associates in providing key support across portfolio management and various trading desks.

Mirza Tihic is the Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises (EEE) at Whitman School of Management. Tihic is involved with several start-ups. He is co-founder of Syracuse’s North Side Learning Center, a family literacy center that helps immigrants and destitute individuals in the community. He also is part of his family’s real estate business. Originally from Bosnia, Tihic holds a bachelor in mathematics, masters in neuroscience, MBA, and a PhD from Syracuse University and loves to help young aspiring college students.
With a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a minor in Food Studies from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Shewa serves as the Administrative Program Coordinator for Homeless Services at a non-profit organization in New York. On top of her current position, Shewa has been involved in a variety of efforts in the Greater Syracuse Area in helping the homeless and high-risk populations. A few organizations she has been involved in include, but are not limited to, Food Recovery Network, We Rise Above the Streets, and Raha Syracuse, a group her and two other individuals formed to aide Muslim families during the COVID-19 crisis. Alongside her work in the Syracuse community, Shewa started Malika Scarves in 2017, a business providing hijabs for women.
With an MBA from UT Austin, Omer brings over 8 years of strong financial services experience gained as an industry practitioner at Citigroup and as a Big 4 consultant . He has had a truly global career in New York, Sao Paulo and London and brings a global mindset to problem solving. Currently, Omer works as a Senior Financial Analyst at KPMG in London, UK.
With a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston and a master’s in Newspaper and Print Journalism from Syracuse University, Nomani serves as editor of an NGO in New York that represents issues involving world peace. He also loves to help college students with their college applications and has guided over 30 successful applicants for their new roles in the past two years. These mentees ranged from prospective graduate school students, to internship seekers, to job seekers and fellowship seekers in the medical field to finance professionals. Nomani delivers expertise in all channels of a career path and loves young minds to be able to explore their potential to the fullest.
